am honored to be part of the beautiful brown bold women project because am a mother, daughter, sister and a business woman!! I believe in equality, uplifting and empowering one another. If we as women come together we can build a nation. I am 35 years old, and was born and raised in Kenya. I moved to Pittsburgh about 18 years ago. I was a teenage mom who came to better our lives. It was not a piece of cake... All that I assumed I knew of America through media gave me a wake up call. Yet one thing sure remains; you can be all you want if you work hard, know your passion, focus on your goals, never stop dreaming and definitely have faith. I worked at a bank, nursing homes, group homes and now own a Kenyan restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh known as lydiahs coffee house, I have been blessed with this stepping stool for almost 3 years now. I love what I do and it never feels like work. All I did was save my income tax and had faith, then God opened the door. With the help of Maurice Williams, sacrifices, encouragement and support I have made it this far. For that am thankful and humbled.
