I am Kea Michaels a strong minded entrepreneur, courageous single mother, and consciously aware African American woman.
I am a local vocalist, spoken word artist and African American activist who chooses to use my voice in song and in word to fight back against inequality and the rights of my African American brothers and sisters. On my musical journey I have dealt with an abundance of adversity including outside and surprisingly within my own race.
What I've continually experienced within my race has been the lack of deserved recognition, unwillingness to collaborate with, and negative stereotypes and procedures for fear of not obtaining financial prosperity and popularity if working with other African Americans.
I have accepted countless demeaning opportunities on my musical journey because of the color of my skin than my white constituents. I have experienced the advancing of white artists who climb the ladder with little or no talent. My mission in using my voice is to help reconstruct my community starting with the empowerment of the African American man. I believe that once our men are restored they can reestablish their positions as leaders, mentors, head of household, spiritually sound, and honorable fathers. Then we can create a unified front in increasing our growth in the black economy, healthy black relationships, black families, and black communities.
Currently I am working on my first album of original songs that are a compilation of strength, unity, motherhood, passion, pain, love, and spirituality.
