It's not always easy to speak about myself, yet my name is Aisha Fatimah Lewis. My father Umar Hussein named me Aisha Fatimah because he said I was a beautiful flower who was going to be a leader. Well I always aspire to be that in hopes of making him and my mother proud. I'm 34 and I was born in Washington D.C on December 27th, during a blizzard. I was a big chocolate baby with chubby cheeks. I remember the older ladies at church pinching my cheeks and giving me "pocketbook candy". You know the candy that you can always find in the bottom of a pocketbook. I grew up in church. I was an usher, sang in the choir and I was apart of the dance team. I would always go with my grandmother and aunt because they raised me for most of my childhood. When I was 12 I moved to Pittsburgh with my mother. We moved all over Pittsburgh throughout the years. My mom was my everything and I lost her too soon. I'm a mother of 3 boys. They're 14,10 & 9. I'm a single mother but their father is very active in their lives. It feels good to say that he and I are friends! I also work with children. I am a supervisor for a non profit organization. I have two locations that I supervise in the city. Our mission is to prevent and treat child abuse by strengthening families and neighborhoods. My own personal goal is to get back to my passion. I was a ballet dancer. I attended Creative and Performing Arts school 5th-12th grade. I graduated and was accepted to Point Park College with Ballet as my focus. I didn't finish and instead I raised my first son. I still performed with different dance companies. In 2008 I stopped dancing because I told myself I should focus on working a 9 to 5. That decision still bothers me. I will dance again!! I'm a proud mother of 3 amazing son's and I wouldn't trade that for anything. As a result of my old soul and upbringing they're little gentlemen. They make me smile daily and I just want to make them, my father and my mother in Heaven proud. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my story. This is just a little insight on why I am a Beautiful, Brown and Bold Woman!
